09.04.10
Glenn Beck’s Common Sense book is one of the most best-selling books of 2009 according to New York Times. To be more specific, it was their best seller from June 26 to the 18th of October 2009 and further catapulted Glenn Lee Beck’s career as a best-selling author. He now joins the rank of other prominent American conservative authors and political commentators such as Sean Hannity, Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh.
The first “Common Sense” was written by a man known as Thomas Paine in 1776 and was an absolute masterpiece not only because it presented arguments that were impossible to contest but because it was instrumental in rallying the people to take responsibility for their country’s freedom and her future. Glenn Beck expresses that Thomas Paine and his work was his inspiration in creating the said book and that America today is in a relatively similar situation as she was centuries ago.
Glenn Beck’s Common Sense Book was initially planned as an anonymous release online. Simon and Shuster acquired the rights to publish the book last year and the book became highly successful and quickly rose to the top as the top-selling book of that year.
Of course, every great work has its own share of critics and there are certainly many people who dismiss the book as another of baseless attempts of ranting against the government. In the same way though, there are also those who’ve found enlightenment and a sense of responsibility after reading this book. Many of its readers would say that the book is neither conservative nor liberal in nature. Instead, it focuses on the people and how frustrating the government had become. It also does not stop there, but emphasizes that each one has a role to play in changing things for the better. Regardless of what you might think about his work though, it cannot be denied that the book is a major success judging by its sheer amount of sales alone. Thus we urge you to remain unbiased and only come up with your own opinion after reading Glenn Beck’s Common Sense book from cover to cover.
