The Dr Laura Schlessinger Radio Show has placed Dr Laura as the top female talk radio host in the country. The strongly opinionated, brutally honest, and straight-shooting program has lifted Dr. Laura to incredible talk radio success. What’s quite amazing is that she does all this as a “self-help” or “dr-laura-help” format, while all the other mega-hits are news & politics.

The radio show’s roots go back to an opportunity that Schlessinger took advantage of at KFI in Los Angeles. When both a night time and later a noon time slot opened up Dr. Laura seized the opportunity and was off to the races. Her direct style of advice giving, although harsh at times seems to be embraced by her audience. Day after day callers line up to be reprimanded by the Doctor. The show has been wildly successful, and is now on hundreds of stations across the country.
