There are NO WOMEN in Talk Radio

Ok, ok… settle down - yes of course there are a few - but VERY FEW. In fact so few of the top talk radio programs are hosted by women it begs the question - WHY?
As I look at the 39 top programs in Talk Radio (according to Talkers Magazine) - I see a measly 5 women on the list. Not saying the women are measly - just the number!

Let’s consider the top programs:

Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity
Glenn Beck
Michael Savage
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Laura Ingraham
Mark Levin
Dave Ramsey
Neal Boortz
Mike Gallagher
Michael Medved
Jim Bohannon
Doug Stephan
Bill Bennett
Jerry Doyle

There are only 2 women in this top list - both Laura’s… both huge stars, but only 2.

So why are there so few?
A bias? An all-boys-club? Coincidence?

Could be a reasonable explanation for this… Your comments are welcome below.

Get Well Rush (Limbaugh suffers health scare)

Talk Radio mega-star Rush Limbaugh got a real scare to end 2009 suffering chest pains. It’s being reported it is not a heart attack, but still a real scare for Rush at only 58.

Limbaugh has been released from The Queen’s Medical Center and seems to be doing well. RadioEqualizer has some great coverage of Rush’s health scare and the reaction (some of it pretty sick). Click Here to check it out.

Now this isn’t one I saw coming, but Rush was recently interviewed by none-other-than William Shatner. And what’s really interesting is that some new stuff about Rush comes out…. Definitely worth a few minutes of your time.

Most Influential Conservative: Rush Limbaugh

So who does America think is the most influential conservative voice according to a poll conducted by “60 Minutes” and Vanity Fair magazine? Answer: Rush Limbaugh….. oh and it’s not really even close. Glenn Beck comes in a distant second, and Dick Cheney & Sarah Palin were next.

So why bother even reporting this? I mean isn’t it obvious - Rush is the man. Well amidst all the new # 1 best selling books, talk radio hosts making it big on TV, doing live tours, etc, etc - it’s good to remind ourselves that - There’s still only 1 Rush.

Glenn Beck & The Plan - could it work?

Ok, so you’ve heard of “The Plan” - right? Glenn Beck has unveiled that he indeed has a plan, a plan to take America back (from what I glean).

Although he hasn’t fully outlined it yet (I think this disappointed many), it does seem that he’s about to leverage all the power he has gained over the years - to move America’s direction. Fame & Influence he’s gained from radio, tv, books, live shows & internet.

While Rush and even Sean may technically have more followers at this point, I have a feeling they’re just not willing to risk what Glenn is. Also, I don’t think they have the seemingly unstoppable energy that Beck does. Rush always seems optimistic, while Glenn in reality is becoming desperate about the state of the Union.

But could The Plan work? It seems like such a big task, but when you consider the 9-12 groups, the march on Washington, Van Jones, and Glenn’s soaring popularity - I wouldn’t bet against it.
