The Top Voice of Conservatism?
06.05.09
Now that the election has come and gone, and a liberal Democrat is President - the question: “Who is the leader of the Republican party?” often comes up. But might I suggest a more important question: Who is the leader of Conservatism in America? It has become clear that GOP values and conservative values no longer align, so again we ask - who is the leader of Conservatism?
I’ll give you my choice(s), feel free to add your pick below.
Let’s consider some of the “obvious” candidates:
Rush Limbaugh
Bill O’Reilly
Dick Cheney
Ann Coulter
Michael Savage
Glenn Beck
Newt Gingrich
Some other politician
Rush certainly seems to be the most prominent in the news - and the hand-picked choice of team-Obama at least for the Republican Party. Rush seems happy to oblige. And while Limbaugh will be critical of liberal republicans at times, it seems that he holds-back a little too much when he should fire-away on liberal Republicans. While the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show Program has always been a ratings-topper, I don’t necessarily believe he will be the flag-bearer going forward.
How about O’Reilly? Probably not as Bill will say his liberal in some areas and conservative in others. Plus - he seems too interested in drawing liberals into his TV audience.
How about big political names like Cheney or Gingrich? Well, unless they can rise in popularity it seems pretty unlikely.
Coulter and Savage come off as too radical / obnoxious - or at least they get painted that way…
No, the clear choice to me right now is the Radio & TV rising star - Glenn Beck. He comes appears real, genuine, and an overall good guy. People like him. He will go after republicans and democrats alike. He ripped Bush and is now ripping Obama. Either he’s pulling the wool over our eyes or he’s the real-thing.
So in summary right now the choice for leader of Conservatism is Glenn Beck. What do you say?
